First official newborn session in the new Medina studio!
Finally! The studio gets some love on the blog! It took me forever to get these posted here so I am excited to share these adorable photos! I’ve posted many on social media but does it make it more official here? My college friend and sorority sister along with her husband, toddler daughter and newborn baby boy joined me in the NEW studio on the historic Medina square, just south of Cleveland and west of Akron.
They are the most darling family, so happy and full of joy over their babies. We definitely kept things moving, as I do with all my sessions, since little ones are more interested in exploring and playing than getting their photos taken. But that is exactly why I tailor my sessions that way and follow the kids lead. I don’t force them into much, just little prompt like “Where’s your baby’s toes?” or “Tell mommy how much you love her.” It makes the session so much more relaxed and stress free for everyone. One thing I ask the parents is to keep playing and smiling like you are having the time of your lives. Because even if your little one isn’t feeling it, there are ways to make it look like they are. Although I have prompts for my families I let the moments unfold on their own as well, take a step back and let things happen here and there.
I’ve transitioned into the studio by giving my newborn sessions a different feel. I go about the session with baby-led posing on a very simple backdropped posing pillow. I really wanted to keep the lifestyle feel infused into the studio sessions. Very natural and not forced. You really get to remember those little movements that are unique to newborns. Their little fists, how they curl up their legs, and funny expressions.
I loved this session and thank this family so much for having me photograph them! Enjoy!
