First studio maternity session!
If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have read a post about maternity photography. Up until this point (that is over 7 years) I have done a total of two maternity sessions. I have had many inquiries over the years about shooting maternity for expecting mamas. You would think it naturally fits into my other sessions since I shot newborn and family sessions. But I have always turned them down. Up until just the past year or so I had a hard time feeling inspired to shoot maternity sessions. Since I wasn’t feeling inspired I felt intimidated to shoot these beautiful growing bellies. Now in hindsight I think that came from a fear of not feeling fulfilled or failing to be true to what moved me so I just put it off all these years. Once I had the chance to move into a beautiful studio space I started to envision what I could do with maternity photography and had ideas running through my mind all the time. I had to test the waters so I contacted my college friend Jess knowing she was expecting her second little one. She has the sweetest personality and most gorgeous smile and adorable family, so she really inspired this session as well. As usual, I give my families little prompts and then let the moments come to the surface on their own to keep the images authentic. The entire session her husband just gushed over how beautiful she looked 🙂 I really want to thank them for having me shoot these images, wear whatever I wanted them to, and go with the flow. Hope you love these as much as we do!
