Last time I photographed this family, big sister was just over one year old! I was really looking forward to shooting them again now that their family has grown!
We met at a park in Akron, OH, the light was perfect and it was great catching up with friends. This might be one of my new favorite spots for outdoor family sessions because of the way the sunset light hit all the trees and leaves and created that dreamy halo around them. These kids have the sweetest smiles and we were all so happy about how awesome this family session went! I know life is crazy with kiddos and you never know what to expect when they have a “stranger” snapping a camera at them.
I really strive to get a mix of natural expressions and moments together as well as more traditional “look at the camera” portraits. I love all the cuddles between mom, dad and the kids during this session. I’m able to tell when little ones get restless and their attention has run out. So I like to give little breaks for them to do some running around or making silly faces in between the shots I had planned. It gives them time to get their sillies out and make it fun! If it seems like a job they’re forced to sit down for, I don’t feel I get as many genuine smiles and expressions. That really goes a long way for the photos in the end. Also, this gives a nice mix and variety for displaying in the home, keeping for yourself in an album and gifting to grandparents. Enjoy some of my favorite picks from this sunny family session!
